Abstract

The paper presents the results of the study on determinants of entrepreneurial intent  among a group of students of University of Economics in Katowice. The purpose of the study is to identify which factors contribute most to the intent to embark on entrepreneurial ventures in the future. The theoretical part provide the background for entrepreneurial intent models along with its probable determinants identified in the previous study. Their list encompasses more than 20 factors, and their impact is verified in the present study. The results indicate that five factors play a major role in evoking entrepreneurial intent: noticing opportunities, positive self-assessment of own skills, the need of autonomy, risk-taking and planning skills; the last two play a relatively less significant role, and the last one has a negative impact. The theoretical and educational implications as well as the limitations of the study are discussed in the conclusions.
