A Story in a Relationship, a Relationship in a Story- The Context of Narrative Structuring of Experi
Abstract
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to highlight the multifaceted conditions of constructing so-called relational narratives, taking into account the content and form (structure/process) of “stories that connect or divide,” but also psychological competencies of their authors, with particular focus on the process of narrative structuring of experience.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: An exploration of the potential for understanding the relational dimension of narratives beyond their textual (content and structure) aspects. The results of a comparative analysis of 60` pandemic diaries are juxtaposed with strategies of narrative structuring of experience identified in psychology as supportive of health (BLSI), taking into account relational aspects.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: I. The context of the “ontology of interpersonal relations.” II. “Pandemic Diaries” research findings. III. Defining the levels (intrapersonal, interpersonal, transpersonal), functions, and content-structural conditions of the concept of “connecting/ dividing” through narrative (three-level model of human` relationality in narrative structuring strategies context).
RESEARCH RESULTS: I. Emphasis on the importance of selected strategies of narrative structuring of experience: integrating self-narratives into macro-histories and their existential saturation. II. Identification of selected competency-related conditions for constructing narratives that connect or divide.
CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: I. The need to strengthen metacognitive competencies: self-awareness, the habit of self-reflection, textualization and symbolization of experience, and internal dialogicality. II. A return to traditional traits and attitudes: patience, commitment, among others.
