Editorial: Foster Care
Abstract
The current issue of our journal is devoted to the widely recognized issue of foster care. Basically, child care is carried out by child’s biological parents. Child’s family environment is the most desirable and the best one for the child’s upbringing. However, there are plenty of situations, where a child, for whatever reason, is deprived of his or her family environment. In the event of death or the absence of parents or improper performance of their parental custody, children are entitled to special protection and assistance from the State. The State is obliged to provide each child living outside his or her family environment with a suitable alternative care. The purpose of this is to replace the care of child’s parents or to give them support in carrying out their parental responsibilities but also to prevent disruption of the child’s personal, emotional and physical development.Copyright (c) 2016 HORIZONS OF EDUCATION
