Living in the Shadow of a Pandemic – Psychological Consequences at Work
Abstract
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The research objective of the study is to present the impact of a pandemic on the psychological well‑being of people in the context of their professional life.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem is included in an attempt to answer the question: How has professional life changed in the time of the pandemic? The sources of empirical premises were the results of research devoted to the pandemic phenomenon.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The process of argumentation presents the conse‑ quences of the impact of the pandemic on mental health in the perspective of professional role.
RESEARCH RESULTS: Research indicates the negative consequences of professional functioning in the pandemic: uncertainty, a sense of threat, social isolation, the factors that significantly de‑ termine the health and quality of life of an individual.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATION, AND RECOMMENDATION: During the pandemic, many employees experienced changes and their negative consequences in their professional lives. Therefore, greater participation and availability of psychological support is postulated.
