Historical Reenactment – Does Passion Protect Against Addiction?
Abstract
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: This paper focuses on comparison of historical reenactors and non- reenactors in terms of addiction to the Internet, social networks (SM) and attitudes towards artificial intelligence (AI). The relationships between mentioned addictions, personality and time per- spective were also checked.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Standardized psychological questionnaires to examine personality, addiction to the Internet and SM, and the temporal perspective were used.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Historical reenactment has recently become more and more popular. This study confronts this phenomenon with everyday life filled with modern technologies.
RESEARCH RESULTS: The results show that non-reenactors, compared to reenactors, disclose more Internet addiction characteristics and positive emotions towards AI. The relationship between the dominant time perspective and addiction to the Internet and SM was also confirmed.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This analysis enables to understand better the functioning of individuals engaged in the historical reenactment.
