The Androgynous Subject and its (Be)Coming
Abstract
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to provide a synthetic description of the androgynous subject in the process of becoming self, at the same time being it as a source.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The main problem discussed here is expressed in the question: How may one adopt a “different approach” to the reflection upon the category of subject being the androgynous subject, so as to be able to reveal the aspects that constitute its source and are the source of its becoming? There was applied the principle of research framing of the main steps of the metha hodos of the meanings of the androgynous subject and its (be)coming.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: “I am” is the core of the presence of the self in the space-time in the convolutions of I am female and I am male while being a woman or a man. These splices “define” the androgynous subject that has a voice in the becoming. The becoming reveals the twofold situationality of being an androgynous subject.
RESEARCH RESULTS: The article presents a framework for the conceptualisation of the androgynous subject “over,” but not “beyond” the cultural approach to androgyny as the combining of complementing male and female properties. The authors point to the category of the (be)coming of such subject and the citationality source ‘inscribed’ sensation of masculinity and femininity in their multiplicity and diversity.
CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: In considering the androgynous subject and its (be)coming, one should take into consideration the postulate of French post-phenomenology, which calls for switching from thinking about experiencing something (femininity and masculinity) to thinking about how something is experienced (femininity and masculinity in their multiplicity and diversity), which allows this subject to be exposed in the uneasy process of becoming.
