Editorial: Ageing
Abstract
Human sciences have been interested in the phenomenon ofageing for millennia. Already in the ancient world, Geek and
Roman philosophers, including Plato, Aristotle, 1 and Cicero
(106‑43 BC) reflected on this period of life. Since then ageing
people displayed a continuous but changing interest in it. The
second half of the 20th century was characterised by a peak cultural
and scientific fascination with youth, yet the end of this century
and the beginning of the 21st century witnessed a dynamic
interest in old age...
