Call for Papers: HW Vol 25, No 75 (2026): “Educational Accompaniment in Theory and Practice”

2025-09-10

Accompaniment as a strategy for educational interventions is being increasingly widely used in practice and constitutes a fundamental element of pedagogical theory. Accompaniment is not a new pedagogical category, but rather a somewhat forgotten one that is now re-emerging more confidently in reflections on upbringing. It can be found in the work of Socrates; the pedagogy of Jesus Christ; the experience of the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola, which the Jesuits have been sharing with undiminished success for almost five hundred years; or later concepts such as: reform pedagogy, the idea of the work school, the pedagogy of pragmatism, or humanistic pedagogy—to name just a few.

A characteristic feature of accompaniment is its appeal to personalism, which forms the basis for building an engaging pedagogical relationship. We invite you to explore the specifics, potential, and contemporary relevance of the idea of accompaniment, as well as the possibilities for its application in pedagogical theory and practice.
