Call for Papers: HW Vol 25, No 76 (2026): “Between Screen and Relationship: Social and Educational Implications”
transformed the educational landscape, redefining both the teaching and learning processes and the educational relationships taking place in the school space. Schools – as institutions that shape cognitive, social, and axiological competencies – face the need to reconsider their own identity, the role of teachers, and the status of educational relationships in a world dominated by screens, algorithms, and digital media.
The thematic issue of Educational Horizons, entitled :"Between the Screen and the Relationship: Social and Educational Implications," reflects on the complex consequences of the digitalization of school education. The starting point is the belief that digital technologies are not exclusively neutral teaching tools but create new learning environments, influencing ways of exploring the world, building relationships, shaping identity, and experiencing the school community.
We invite you to reflect on the pedagogical, psychological, social, and ethical dimensions of digital technologies in schools. The special issue of the interest focuses on the tensions and dilemmas that arise at the intersection of technology and the educational relationship, didactic innovation and pedagogical responsibility, educational effectiveness, and integral student development.
This issue is assumed to comprise the analyses concerning such aspects as:
- pedagogical consequences of the digitization of teaching and learning process,
- the impact of digital technologies on student-teacher and peer relationships,
- the role of teachers in digital learning environments,
- digital and media competences of students and teachers,
- ethical and axiological challenges related to the use of technology in schools,
- threats and opportunities arising from the presence of artificial intelligence and digital media in education,
- didactic and upbringing experiences connected with distant and hybrid education.
The aim of this issue is to create a space for interdisciplinary dialogue that will allow understanding better how schools can creatively and responsibly function between the screen and the relationship, without losing their educational and formative character. The issue is addressed to researchers, academic teachers, educational practitioners, and anyone interested in reflecting on contemporary transformations of schools and education in the context of digital technologies. Only articles in English are accepted for this issue.
